Ekaterina Ueda

EManager of an English Conversation School / Translator / Interpreter / International Exchange and Business Consultant

Hello, I’m Ekaterina,
and I have been living in Japan for 20 years!

Thank you very much for visiting my website.
I manage an English conversation school in
Yamaguchi Prefecture.

After graduating from the Faculty
of Linguistics at the Russian State
Pedagogical University and completing
my master’s degree in International
Cultural Studies at Yamaguchi Prefectural University, I began managing an
English conversation school while also pursuing various other business
ventures.

Over the course of my career, I have worked in interpretation and translation—including serving as a diplomatic interpreter for former Prime Minister Abe—acted as an advisor for international exchange events, and lectured on human rights issues. In addition, I have consulted on overseas expansion for domestic products, provided international business support, and offered total production services to help Japanese artists succeed overseas. I have thus assisted numerous individuals and organizations in expanding their reach abroad.

I was also honored to be appointed as the first foreign national and the first female representative from Yamaguchi Prefecture to serve in the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry’s Youth Division for the 2023 fiscal year.

Drawing on my experience in interpretation, translation, and international administrative consulting, I am currently engaged in six additional businesses alongside my English conversation school:
"VIP English Conversation School"
"Total Production"
"International Exchange Consulting"
"International Business Support"
"Interpretation and Translation Services"
"Trading Business"

"Ekaterina’s Vision"
Language is a means of communicating with people around the world. By learning about diverse cultures, accepting different perspectives, and incorporating them with curiosity, we can connect across borders—and language is the tool that enables this. However, when engaging with people from other countries and cultures, we inevitably face a “language barrier. ” Simply studying a foreign language and gaining knowledge does not fully overcome this obstacle; it is crucial to understand the culture and customs of others and communicate on that basis.

I wish to help as many people as possible overcome not only linguistic differences but also the barriers arising from distinct environments, cultures, and customs between Japan and other countries. Toward that end, I plan to expand various initiatives and endeavors to bridge these gaps.

  • "Trilingual"
Fluent in three languages: Japanese, English, and Russian. Additionally proficient in French and German.

  • "Proficient in Japanese"
Not only can I read and write in Japanese, but I also understand and utilizethe subtle nuances and expressions unique to the language.

  • "Achievements in Government Collaboration"
I have experience providing consulting services on foreign cultures and etiquette for governmental organizations.

  • "Diverse Business Experience"
I intend to leverage my extensive experience and know-how to engage in an even wider range of business ventures moving forward.
